Lucky Stars and Battle Scars by Herbert Kharsyntiew

If it’s written on our stars,
We won’t be wearing scars
For our stars were all burned out
In the shadows of our doubts.

We wished for a brand new sky-
To hang our hopes up high,
But we hung on to our scars
That were dangling from our past.

Now I wish to turn back time,
I wish to turn the tide,
I wish for all the signs
to point to what is RIGHT.

And if it’s any consolation,
I left to find the peace.
But for all the wars we waged
I ended on my knees.

And Love! Fear not for your secrets,
I have buried them all, safe –
unlike the promises I never kept,
I’ll take them to my grave.

For our story’s written on our scars
To this fate, I do concede.
So I bid you my farewell
In case we never meet.

And all I can – is Wish you well
From wherever you may start
To you, I might be the farthest
To me, You’re the closest to my Heart.

Ode to a Poetess came into being during the lockdown. It's during the brimming rains of August when I felt the necessity that we, women need our very own platform where we can share our thoughts in literature, as is,unaltered. This is a only women portal that welcomes all format of literature, art and celebrates it's creator, the woman who's unique, who is art herself! _Monroe Gogoi Phukan Founder of Ode to a Poetess.
