Hello there everyone, fellow readers, poets and poetesses alike. My name is
Herbert Kharsyntiew. At the outset, I would like to start off by expressing my
extreme gratitude to Monroe Gogoi for inviting to me to be a part of this
prestigious forum. I am overwhelmed and humbled to get a chance to showcase my
poetry on this platform.
However, I would like to tell everyone here that I don’t consider myself a poet by
any stretch of the imagination. I am not from a literary background nor do I know
much about poetry. But yes, I have written a few verses and lines over the course
of the last few years and have only shared them with my friends and my near and
dear ones to which they seem to have loved and shown an appreciation for my
written pieces. As overwhelmed and excited as I am, I am also a little intimidated
at being invited to be a part of this forum for I am well aware that many other
excellent, established and elite artists will be featured on this platform. But
nonetheless, I remain humble and grateful at this opportunity and an extra special
gratitude to Monroe Gogoi. Well, I cannot forget a certain gentleman that is fondly
known as Mr Nicky J, an established and a popular radio personality without
which none of this would have been possible for me. So a very big thank you to
Mr. Nicky J, of radio mirchi fame.

Well, perhaps I will not be able to exactly explain as to what led me to writing
poetry. As a child, I have always had a fascination with the words of the English
language. As I grew older and started studying poetry and prose in school, the
fondness for the literature grew. I would always fall in love as to how poets
conveyed their messages, using a combination of words through their written
poems. And as the years passed and as I got older, I started falling in love with
music. This led me to also develop a fondness and a fascination for singers and
songwriters. I was fascinated by their usage of words in the context of a song to
convey a meaning or a message. This was where my love and passion grew and
was what incited me to start writing a few poems, although I still am not sure if
whatever I have written were legitimate poetry, as I mentioned earlier, I am not
from a literary background and do not consider myself a poet. I started writing as I
felt it was an extension of my personality and the craving to convey something in
the context of a poem or a song for that matter. I have always had a sense of
satisfaction every time I was able to write a poem. But I was my biggest critic too.
And I was always apprehensive about sharing my writings with anyone except my
close friends and family, but since people seem to like what I have written, so here
I am ready to start my journey with you all fellow artists.
Humbled and honoured.
